How Does the 2026 Lexus LX Compare to the Toyota Land Cruiser?

You're a discerning driver and you when you go shopping for a big-bodied SUV, you don't want just any model for your driveway. You want something special, hence why you're looking at the Lexus LX. A full-size luxury SUV with a spacious interior, powerful engine options, robust features, and plenty of seating, the Lexus LX is one of its segment's most impressive and versatile models.

It's not the only impressive full-size SUV out there, though. Many Pleasanton drivers also consider new models like the Toyota Land Cruiser. The team at Lexus of Pleasanton would love to tell you more about both models, how they compare, and why the Lexus LX is the right SUV for you.

Performance

A big SUV needs a big and powerful powertrain. That's something the Lexus LX delivers right off the bat. The newest model hits the road with a powerful 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 powertrain, rated for up to 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. It also enjoys the support of four-wheel drive traction controls and a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Toyota Land Cruiser is no slouch, but it also falls short of the heights you'll experience with the Lexus LX. New Land Cruiser models use a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired with two hybrid electric motors for an output of 326 horsepower. This is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive traction controls.

To its credit, the Land Cruiser does offer superior fuel economy, but not by very much. The Toyota Land Cruiser gets up to 22/25 miles per gallon on city streets and highways compared to the Lexus LX's 17/22 miles per gallon.

Interior Space & Seating

The Toyota Land Cruiser is a big, capable, and spacious machine. If you're looking for something that can seat a crowd, though? Look elsewhere. Its seating capacity maxes out at five passengers. The Lexus LX, by comparison, offers plenty of room for comfort alongside seating for seven.

The Toyota Cruiser is more spacious when it comes to cargo. New models offer a cargo rear cargo capacity of 46.2 cubic feet. With all three rows of seating in use, the Lexus LX only offers 11 cubic feet. However, things do even out when all the seats are folded down. The Toyota Land Cruiser offers 82.1 cubic feet with the seats down compared to 64 cubic feet in the Lexus LX.

Technology & Features

The Lexus LX offers one of the most robust infotainment experiences in its segment. These include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an available 25-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system.

The Toyota Land Cruiser, by comparison, comes with an 8-inch touchscreen on base models. A 12.3-inch touchscreen is available on higher-level trims. Its entertainment suite, as well, maxes out with a 14-speaker JBL sound system. We won't say it's not nice, but it's not Lexus-nice.
