2025 Lexus RZ vs. Tesla Model Y vs. Toyota bZ4X: Which Electric SUV Is Right for You?
The market for electric vehicles has grown into one of the most competitive spaces in the automotive industry. What does that mean for someone like you? It means you have more options to choose from. One of the best new EV models around? The new 2025 Lexus RZ. When you hit the road in the Lexus RZ, you'll enjoy everything from luxury amenities to a top-tier all-electric driving range.
The Lexus RZ isn't the only EV around, of course. It shares the road with other popular options like the Tesla Model Y and Toyota bZ4X. The big question for you? "Why is the Lexus RZ the right EV for me?" Let's take a look at everything these new all-electric models have to offer, and why the Lexus RZ comes out on top.

Performance
A common misconception about EVs is that they're lacking in the performance department. The Lexus RZ blows that notion out of the water. Its dual electric motor powertrains can deliver up to 308 combined horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. That will get you from zero to 60 miles per hour in around five seconds.
The base model Tesla Model Y, in comparison, uses a single motor powertrain capable of 295 horsepower, although there is a more powerful dual-motor upgrade available. The Toyota bZ4X, meanwhile, offers two powertrain options. The first, a single motor setup, is only capable of 201 horsepower. Even with its optional all-wheel drive dual-motor powertrain, you'll only hit the road with 215 horsepower.
Electric Driving Range
One of the biggest considerations for any electric vehicle is driving range. The Lexus RZ can deliver between 220 miles and 266 miles of range, depending on the model you choose and assuming you have a fully charged battery. This is somewhat less than the Tesla Model Y's 357 miles of range and comparable to the Toyota bZ4X, which gets up to 252 miles of range.
The Tesla Model Y also holds a bit of an advantage when it comes to charging. With fast-charging equipment, the Model Y can add about a hundred miles of range in around fifteen minutes. The Lexus RZ is a touch slower, but not so significantly for it to be an inconvenience.
Exterior & Interior Design
The 2025 Lexus RZ makes a bold first impression with its sleek and aerodynamic silhouette. The brand's signature spindle grille also gets a futuristic makeover with the Lexus RZ. From its sculpted hood to its floating roof design and pronounced rear fenders, the RZ artfully blends contemporary style with eye-catching details. The Tesla Model Y and Toyota bZX4 are both attractive models in their own right, but lack the premium style of a Lexus.
The Lexus RZ sets itself even further apart on the inside. Its spacious interior can seat up to five and comes decked out in the premium amenities you'd expect from a luxury SUV. These include available Ultrasuede upholstery, ribbonwood trim, and more. The Tesla Model and Toyota bZ4X are both spacious and comfortable in their own right, but lack the refinement of the Lexus RZ.
Technology & Infotainment
The 2025 Lexus RZ offers no shortage of advanced technology features. It comes standard with the all-new Lexus Interface multimedia system, complete with an expansive 14-inch high-definition touchscreen. Standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide seamless smartphone integration, while an available 13-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system delivers a sublime audio experience.
To their credit, the Tesla Model Y and Toyota bZ4X also come with a robust spread of standard media features, as well. The Tesla Model Y offers embedded streaming service apps for rear passengers. The bZ4X also offers standard access to connectivity features like the Lexus RZ, though with a smaller touchscreen.

Safety Features
All three of these all-electric SUVs offer robust standard active assistance suites. With the Lexus RZ, you can expect standard access to safety features including automated emergency braking, lane-departure warnings, lane-keeping assistance, standard adaptive cruise control, and much more. Regardless of which model you choose, you'll hit the road with some well-deserved peace of mind.
Starting Price
The Lexus RZ is a luxury market model packed with great features and delivering a top-notch EV performance. Even with its richer offerings, however, it still hits the road with a base model starting price of around $44,000. That's less than the Tesla Model Y and its lowest-level starting price of around $47,000.
The Toyota bZX4 does run cheaper than the Lexus RZ, with a starting price around $38,500. At the same time, however, the bZX4 is a mainstream model vehicle and lacks the premium refinement you'll find in a Lexus. That doesn't mean it's not great in its own way, but it's an experience that's going to deliver a bit less.
